For international students, France has become one of the most popular study locations. However, the cost of education and life in France is not always cheap. Annual tuition expenses at public institutions range from €200 to €600, whereas private universities can charge up to €10,000. The annual cost of living is roughly €10,000. Fortunately, there are a number of French scholarships available for international students.

Scholarships for Excellence in Eiffel

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs created the Eiffel scholarship program to help French higher education institutions attract the brightest international students for master’s and PhD degree programs. Eiffel scholarship recipients enrolled in Master’s programs receive a €1,181 stipend, while those enrolled in PhD programs receive a €1,400 stipend. Furthermore, the program covers a variety of costs, such as the return travel, health insurance, and cultural events. Scholarship recipients may also be eligible for an additional housing allowance. The program does not cover the cost of tuition.

French University Scholarships for International Students

École Normale Supérieure International Selection

Each year, the ENS hosts an international selection, allowing roughly thirty of the most talented international students to pursue a two- or three-year program at the ENS in Science or Humanities. They are paid a stipend of around 1,000 Euros per month for a period of two to three years. Each year, about 30 international students are recognized.

Ampere Scholarships of Excellence at ENS de Lyon

The Ampere Scholarships of Excellence are offered by the ENS de Lyon and its partners to outstanding overseas students who wish to enroll in its Master’s programs in the Exact Sciences, the Arts, and Human and Social Sciences (excluding Professional Masters in Teaching). The scholarships provide €1000 per month for a period of 12 months and are renewed subject to certain restrictions.

Emile Boutmy Scholarships at Sciences Po University

The Emile Boutmy Scholarships were established in honor of Sciences Po’s founder, Emile Boutmy, in order to recruit the brightest foreign students from outside of the European Union who are applying and have been previously admitted to Sciences Po University. Scholarships range in value from €5,000 to €10,000 for two years of postgraduate study and from €3,000 to €12,300 for three years of undergraduate study.

Université Paris-Saclay International Master’s Scholarships

The Université Paris-Saclay would like to improve international students’ access to its master’s (nationally-certified degree) programs taught in its member institutions. The scholarship is worth €10,000 each year and includes a maximum of €1,000 in travel and visa expenses.

Grenoble Institute of Technology Foundation Scholarships

The Grenoble Institute of Technology Foundation funds a scholarship program for overseas students who want to study at Grenoble INP for an international master’s degree. The scholarship is worth 5,000 euros every semester.

INSEAD MBA Scholarships

The number of INSEAD Scholarships is restricted, and there is fierce competition for each one. These scholarships are awarded depending on a variety of factors and are divided into two categories: need-based and non-need-based (based on either merit, nationality, gender, professional background, leadership abilities, field of previous studies etc.). The scholarships range in value from $5,000 to $25,000.

HEC Paris MBA Scholarships

International students from a variety of nations and backgrounds are eligible for significant scholarships at HEC Paris. HEC scholarships are divided into three categories: merit-based, need-based, and criteria-based. The scholarship ranges from €6,000 to €24,000 in value.
