The five most interesting smartphones of January 2022.

Last January came out extremely rich in various news in the world of technology. First, CES 2022 was held in Las Vegas, then Microsoft agreed to buy Activision Blizzard, and towards the end of the month, they were talking about banning cryptocurrencies in Russia.

In the meantime, interesting events took place on the smartphone market: the first “clamshell” from Honor, the new OnePlus 10 Pro, Apple’s leadership in China. In today’s article, I will not touch on these topics, but will talk about other unusual gadgets that were introduced in the past month.

The five most interesting smartphones of January 2022

Realme GT2 Pro

One of the first announcements of 2022 was dedicated to the Realme GT2 and GT2 Pro flagships. They have a BBK-inspired good looks, with Naoto Fukasawa again having a hand in some colors – you probably remember him from the “suitcase” GT Master Edition.

Fast charging at 65 W, a screen with FullHD and 2K resolution, respectively, normal cameras: 50 MP + wide + macro. Well, the filling, of course, is also top-end: the younger one has last year’s Snapdragon 888, and the new one has the current Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

In fact, Realme has released its Xiaomi 12 with blackjack and chips. But is it better than its main competitor? You know, it’s as “better” as it is cheaper – it does not have a telephoto, the charging speed is not record-breaking fast, but the battery itself is a little more capacious, and the touchscreen has a higher polling rate (touch recognition speed). And his cameras do not fog up – also some kind, but a plus.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G

Just the other day, Xiaomi introduced the Redmi Note 11 line for the global market. Among all four models, only one is more interesting – the Note 11 Pro 5G, a kind of smooth evolution of Redmi Note 10 Pro. What’s new in it?

The most important thing is, in fact, support for 5G. In many ways, it looks better than the Snapdragon 732G, despite belonging to a younger line.

Among other things, it is worth noting the charging power increased to 67 W, the updated MIUI 13 firmware, and for some reason a simplified macro camera. In general, the smartphone turned out to be good, only the price tag for it may well overcome the psychological threshold of 30 thousand rubles. Here’s a budget brand for you.

Gionee G13 Pro

This phone was a great confirmation of the fact that some people do not know how to live within their means, but try to be like a more “successful” class through expensive or even imitating things.

I recall a picture that I saw a few years ago: a girl of about twenty-five, holding a new iPhone XS Max at that time, gets out of the car with her young man and heads towards an old small family. Moreover, it was clear that they obviously did not come here to visit – they live here.

The new Gionee G13 Pro really wants to be like the iPhone 13: those diagonal cameras, those flat edges, that artful notch that only has a front camera. It looks extremely tasteless, especially since the iPhone itself also does not shine with design.

Otherwise, this phone is typical for the entry level. Unisoc Tiger T310 processor, HD screen, second camera for show, small battery. The operating system was a separate surprise – instead of the usual Android, there is HarmonyOS from Huawei.

Samsung Galaxy S21FE

Of all the smartphones listed in the article (except for the originally Russian BQ), only this one was able to enter our market. Anyway, for now.

The new Samsung Galaxy S21 FE is a cross between the “full-fledged” S21 and S21 +, but differs from them in a slightly simpler appearance, as well as a classic telephoto instead of a 64-megapixel one. At the same time, the device costs almost the same as the regular Galaxy S21. But is it worth burying this novelty?

The most interesting thing is that the Snapdragon 888 processor breathed a second life into the Korean. Slightly increased performance in games, slightly improved photo processing.

In general, the choice turns out to be extremely difficult, because both models are good and worth their money. For those who are not afraid to buy “gray” phones, I suggest choosing the golden mean – Samsung Galaxy S21 or S21 + on a chip from Qualcomm. A good way to get the benefits of both options in one bottle.
